Biggest disadvantages of being a lawyer january 2017

A lawyer career is seen as one of the best ones a student can possible get, but together with the high profits and the position he gets, there are a few drawbacks which I will mention below :

  1. StressWorking as a lawyer can be really stressful for a number of factors. Long working hours, keeping updates with the changes of laws, the client pressure combine to make the lawyer profession one of the most stressful ones.
  1. Hours of workShrinking staff and increasing workloads translate into more work hours for attorneys. Additionally, the demands of law practice that is international mean many attorneys should be available to clients around the clock. Now’s lawyers work more challenging and longer than ever before and 50 hour work weeks aren’t uncommon. As well as billing hours, now’s competitive environment has driven attorneys to spend more hours on company management tasks and customer development. Consequently, many attorneys complain of a lack of work-life balance.
  1. Pressure from clientsLaw clients year after year are becoming more and more conscious about the rules and the changes being made in them. They are starting to understand what lawyers do and are asking for lower prices and better protections. Nowdays being a lawyer is no longer as profitable as it used to be and you have to work hard to find good paying clients.
  1. Job market is becoming more and more competitiveJob openings for attorneys have dropped, but law schools will not be dialing registration back. Increased competitive pressures have driven many attorneys to settle for less-than-perfect employment or change careers completely. today’s attorneys face among the most dismal job markets in history, now wages have plummeted and record amounts of jobs are cut. A constant supply of attorneys coupled with falling demand has caused many legal professionals to reconsider the worth of a law degree.
  1. Not satisfied with their jobsThe pressure and demands of law practice have fueled high rates of career discontent among members of the bar. Suicide and depression are common among lawyers and forty-four percent of attorneys lately surveyed by the American Bar Association said they would not recommend the profession to some young person.
